This was a short, three-day summer camp that offered free English courses to students from underserved communities. Each day focused on a different subject, beginning with the origins of the English language, moving into the development of modern English and practical learning techniques for beginners, and ending with more advanced applications of English, including its role in the age of AI.

Day 1 - The past of English

What did English look like in the past? Which languages influenced its development, and how has its history shaped the way we use it today?

By exploring everything from Latin influences and Old English to opera and the Church, we can gain a deeper understanding of the language—while learning to interpret and use it with greater confidence.

Day 2 - A Scientific Approach to Learning English

By studying word roots and affixes and organizing our time effectively, we can discover that memorizing vocabulary is not as complicated as we may think.

We will explore different types of clauses and learn how to use them, understand the Ebbinghaus Forgetting Curve and its role in vocabulary learning, and discover how to develop a natural sense of English and improve our speaking skills outside an English-speaking environment.

Day 3 — English in the Age of AI

Modern English is no longer only a language for communication between people. As we interact more frequently with artificial intelligence, English is gradually becoming a bridge between humans and computers, taking on some of the roles that once required programming languages.

How can we combine English with AI? What exactly is AI, and how can we, as students, use it effectively and responsibly?
